As part of an end of year celebration, four people who attend Maranga, Wellington Aspirations took a trip to the Wellington Zoo. This was to fulfil one of the participants’ dream of getting up close and personal with spiders. Maranga, like all Spectrum Care services, believes in person-centred outcomes, where disabled people have supports that are individually tailored to the needs, dreams, goals – whatever it is that they want to achieve. Everyone who went had a fabulous day out, saw lots of animal at the zoo and got to learn all about really interesting insects and other creepy crawlers.
Finlay wrote this: “I wanted to see spiders up close and not behind the glass. Dané picked me up from my house to have a fun day out. I enjoyed the close encounters with the spiders and scorpion. It was an enjoyable day out.”
Finlay was also very stoked about the Tasmanian Devils being out that day, apparently, they like to hide from visitors.
Finlay’s Mum says he was “fizzing” when he got home.
